At any given time, the number of dogs we can bring into rescue is restricted by our available funds and foster homes. Both are always in need and both are very hard to come by.
Below are some of the grants we were able to get through the Petfinder Foundation but the majority of our funding comes from friends and family through various FUNdraising campaigns.
We also host some small agility trials and seminars, as well as an annual herding clinic (with Phantom Ridge Border Collies). We have also signed up with various affiliate programs that donate back a percentage of the purchase when you shop on their sites.
Alberta Herding Dog Rescue has received a $500.00 Orvis Grant from the Petfinder Foundation.
The Petfinder Foundation Orvis Grant program is used to assist Petfinder members through the promotion of dog adoption.
The Petfinder.com Foundation assists the 12,000+ animal shelters and rescue groups that post their adoptable pets on Petfinder.com. A nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, the Petfinder Foundation helps adoption organizations find homes for the pets in their care through its Sponsor A Pet, Disaster Fund, Quality of Life and other programs. Since its founding in 2003, the Petfinder Foundation has given more than $20 million in cash and product grants to shelters and rescue groups in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Alberta Herding Dog Rescue has received a $472.72 Orvis Grant from the Petfinder Foundation.
We are always happy to accept food, treats and/or toy donations as well as bedding and/or crates. If you are shopping at Rascals Pet Supplies (our favourite store), they will collect food donations for us.
Our dogs love food and generally do not have adverse reactions to any brand. We happily and gratefully mix any donated food with our base brands - FirstMate and Acana.
Our vets will also accept direct payments to our account, if we have an outstanding balance.
